Getting Started
What to expect as a new patient
A quick walkthrough of the process, from your first form to your first appointment.
1. Complete Your Intake Forms
Before we can schedule your first appointment, we ask you to complete our practice intake forms so we can understand your needs and confirm we're a good fit for your care. You can find these on our Forms page — the New Patient Intake Form, Practice Policies, and Credit Card Authorization Form are the ones most new patients need.
2. We Review Your Information
Our team reviews your submitted forms to confirm our practice is a good match for your individual needs. New patient evaluation slots are limited, so this step helps us make sure your first visit is well-prepared and productive.
3. Your Initial Evaluation Is Scheduled
Once we've reviewed your information and agree to move forward together, we'll schedule your initial 60-minute intake appointment and request a credit card to keep on file. All first appointments are considered a consultation — we'll let you know if we're in a position to offer ongoing treatment beyond that first visit.
4. Your First Appointment
Your initial evaluation is a comprehensive 60-minute session, available in person or by telepsychiatry. It often takes a few appointments early on to build a full plan of care — most patients can expect an intake appointment followed by two to three follow-up visits in the first three months as we assess medication effects, stabilize on any new treatment, and adjust as needed.
5. Ongoing Care
From there, we'll settle into a regular follow-up rhythm tailored to your treatment plan. If you ever need to cancel or reschedule, please give us at least 48 hours' notice — full policy details are in our Practice Policies.
